Suggestions
- Pray for discernment as to where the Father wants you to tabernacle with Him.
- If you are led to attend Sukkot in Colorado Springs, please prepare your heart to participate in worship, dance and praise.
- Come willing to learn and to contribute to discussions with Scriptural references.
- Leave doctrinal and religious affiliations behind.
- Pray for this camp site, and everyone who will attend.
- Invite others to come.
- Although registering is not necessary, it helps in planning. Please register as soon as possible.
- Plan on providing meals for your family each day, however, the evening meal will be held under the big tent in a covered dish setting.
- There are no camping fees, but if you do not have enough food for your family, please do not let that discourage you from attending Sukkot 2010. We do not want financial matters to keep YOU from keeping Father's feast. Simply let us know in advance of what your needs are.
Recommendations
- DRESS MODESTLY, around the campground, in worship and at the Mikvah.
Do not be a distraction or seek attention with wrong clothing choices. This goes for men and women, teens and children. A recent article in First Fruits of Zion’s Messiah Magazine. Issue 93, page 19 states:
“the goal behind dressing modestly is to help others focus on our character and inner beauty without being distracted by what we wear.” “Modesty helps us find the Godly spark in ourselves and in others. The manner in which we dress, speak, and conduct ourselves encourages this process…”.
Contemporary lifestyle has desensitized us as a culture to the issue of modesty. Please allow yourself and others to enjoy our time together and to discover the comfort of modesty in fellowship.
- We strongly encourage parents to participate in the children’s program with your children/youth in observance of the commandment in Deuteronomy 6 to teach your children. We encourage everyone in the camp to volunteer some time working with the children’s and youth programs. Remember, that Yahshua tells us that the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these (children).
- Find a job that needs doing and volunteer as soon as possible. Be prepared to participate in the whole experience of “living in temporary dwellings” with other people by being ready to help someone in need. Look for an opportunity to help others. Help set up tents, share meals, tote things for others, etc. Encourage and instruct your teens to volunteer as well.
- Make a donation so that others having a hard time financially can attend.

WHILE ATTENDING SUKKOT:
- Police your campsite for litter and organization. Police the park for litter.
- Come early and help set up. Stay longer to help tear down.
- Keep your speech and words pleasant and free from complaining.
Do not grumble.
- If you have a concern while in the camp, ask first to speak with leadership, and be prepared to offer and implement a solution.
- Put other’s needs ahead of your own. Respect the camping experience of your neighbors.
- Guide your teenagers and children to follow the rules. Safeguard your children by knowing where they are at all times, and who they are with.
- While involved in a midrash please keep in mind the purpose of the midrash is to open up the Scriptures from other points of view to reveal deeper purpose or truth. It is not to force your own views, or to be more correct, or more holy than your brother or sister. Keep in mind that Israel is made up of twelve tribes not just Judah, and we come from all kinds of backgrounds, and traditions which help form who we are today, and the way we interpret scripture. All midrashes will be based on the canonized scriptures and not on any external documents.
PLAN TO HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME!
The purpose of gathering for Sukkot is to worship the Father in one spirit with love for one another. Yahshua prayed that we might be one (echad) even as He and the Father are one. Remember, that it is the adversary of Yahweh that is the accuser of the brethren, and desires us to be divided. A house divided against itself cannot stand. Our desire is offer an environment that fosters unity and builds up the living stones so that we are one house, one body while seeking to please the Father at His Sukkot. Please read ICor. 12:12-13:13. And pray for the leadership in the camp.
STILL INTERESTED? READ THIS LIST OF WHAT NOT DO:
- Do not wait until the last minute to register.
- Do not expect other people to take care of your children. You must be the one who knows where your children are and what they are doing at all times. Do not expect us to assure your children’s safety without your participation in their well being.
- Do not bring dangerous or unruly pets to Sukkot. Make arrangements to leave them at a boarding facility. Also, do not bring any animal into the Big Tent. The big tent will be our place of worship, fellowship, and community mess hall. We must insure our ability to keep it clean according to Scripture.
- Do not bring Scripturally unclean things into the camp. (including food)
- Do Not Bring a contentious, critical, prideful, or jealous spirit.(Psalm 51:17)
- Do not make public corrections to a wrong situation or openly criticize others in the camp. Remember what happened to Miriam. Please bring matters of concern to the leadership for proper handling after prayer and seeking Yahweh’s heart and mercy in the matter. Help prevent Lashon Hara by not listening to it as well.
- Do not seek a public platform for yourself or for doctrines of men that you may hold dear. This is a time for joyful expression, it is not a convention for defining religious expression.
- Do not grieve the Holy Spirit. Yahweh is to be first and is to increase, while we decrease.
- Don’t take up an offense. Please, give others the benefit of the doubt. We will not all be in agreement on all things at all times, especially when studying the Word. We all come from different backgrounds, and are walking out our sanctification in fear and trembling to the best of our understanding. Please read ICor.3:1-23 regarding the carnality of envy, strife and divisions.
- Deuteronomy 14:26 states that we are to bring “strong drink” to the feast, however drunkenness in the camp will not be tolerated.
Donations & Scholarships
The commandments of Yahweh are very clear. We are all to have prepared for the Feasts of Yahweh by setting aside our tithes in order to attend. But not everyone has been properly taught about the instructions for tithing, and may have difficulty in being able to attend if it is their first time to do so. We are also to help the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless and the widow with their expenses for the Feasts of Yahweh if they are truly needed. When you give donations to Olive Branch Ministries, to be specifically used for those who are in financial need to be able to attend the Feast, please signify them as such. Our ability to provide for the poor is directly related to the donations that are made for that purpose. Donations are also used for specific event expenses when a donor communicates his desire to provide for a specific expense.
If you are in need of financial assistance to attend Sukkot with us, please let us know of your need in writing. While we cannot promise that everyone will receive a total scholarship, we will listen and pray with you for your provision and to know what Yahweh would have us do. We do not want anyone who is a fellow Israelite and earnestly desires to celebrate Tabernacles to miss out on this Feast celebration. |
